The Instant Pot Duo and Instant Pot Duo Plus are both multi-cookers built around pressure cooking, slow cooking, rice, steaming, and saute functions. The core question is whether the Plus model's extra program and newer controls are worth choosing over the proven original.
Quick Answer
Choose the Instant Pot Duo 6 Quart for the strongest review history and straightforward 7-in-1 cooking. Choose the Duo Plus if you want 9-in-1 functionality and a newer interface.

Which One Wins?
Best for most kitchens: Instant Pot Duo 6 Quart. It has a much deeper review history in the current catalog and covers the core cooking jobs.
Best for extra versatility: Instant Pot Duo Plus. The 9-in-1 design adds functions for cooks who want more presets in one appliance.
Best buying rule: If the prices are close, choose the Duo Plus. If the original Duo is meaningfully cheaper, its review history and 7-in-1 basics make it the smarter value.
